Princess Di Vibes

Outfit of the Day, StyleKristenComment

If you’re like me and have been spending an absurd amount of time on Instagram lately, you’ve most likely seen the myriad of posts about Princess Diana’s bike shorts and sweatshirt looks. Bike shorts have been becoming trendy for a while now, but I couldn’t find a pair I actually liked until recently. Now, I practically live in them.

So when my dad got me this sweatshirt, I knew I’d be wearing it with my bike shorts allllll the time. It’s been one of my favorite looks on cooler days (on hot days too. I’m literally always in sweatshirts).

This sweatshirt itself is an all-time favorite too. It’s ridiculously comfortable and pays homage to one of the greatest rock and roll venues ever. It’s also an awesome design. You all know how I feel about graphic tees, but I’ll make an exception for cool ones like this.

The moral of the story is, it’s super easy to look like Princess Diana, and it’s even more badass when you’re wearing a metal shirt.

All Hail the Pant Leg Man

shirt (obviously from the Pant Leg Man, but this one is very similar). shorts. sneakers. sunglasses.

I post about this shirt a lot, but I think it’s important that I give some context as to how it came into my life.

As you (hopefully) know by now, my parents and I are huge metal fans, especially my dad. About two years ago, we went to a Judas Priest concert at Nassau Coliseum. We were actually supposed to see them again at the Coliseum in September, but it got canceled. Not because of COVID, but because the venue is closing, which makes me super sad. I grew up going to concerts there.

But I digress. As we were leaving, there were the usual men standing outside selling Judas Priest tees, and my dad decided to buy me one. The man asked what size I wanted, and when I told him, he rolled up his pant legs, where various tees were hidden. He literally took it out of his pants. I bought a T-shirt from a man’s pants.

I think about that Pant Leg Man a lot. Without him, I wouldn’t have gotten one of my favorite shirts. One of my friends actually has a very similar shirt that he bought “officially,” and it’s fading and ripping. My shirt is doing just fine.

That just goes to show you, always believe in the Pant Leg Man.

Happy July, babes! Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? It doesn’t even feel like summer. Thanks, Coronavirus! I’ve been trying to make the most of the nice weather by going on walks, hanging out in my backyard, and enjoying some outdoor dining.

This look has been a go-to for a while now. You all know I live in my bodysuits, but I’ve been switching it up with my cashmere joggers. If you’ve never worn cashmere pants, I’m begging you to at least try a pair on. They will change your life. They’re a little pricey (okay, a lot pricey), but I have no regrets and you won’t either.

I usually add a flannel to this insanely comfy look. My chambray shirt has been my favorite lately since it’s so lightweight. And to make things even more comfy, I throw on my Ugg moccasins.

An Ode to My Prom Dresses

StyleKristenComment

Prom season is approaching, and though it may look very different this year (thanks, COVID!), I’m still reminiscing on the Proms I attended during high school. If we’re being honest, my favorite part of the whole ordeal was picking a dress and getting ready. Who doesn’t want to get dolled up to take pictures in a sweltering hot backyard? Of course, I had fun at the actual events too, but when I think of my Proms, I immediately think of my dresses. And the fact that there are STILL people who haven’t paid me for the limo but we won’t go there (you know who you are).

Junior Banquet - 2014

dress from Camille La Vie

My high school’s version of a Junior Prom was our Junior Banquet, which was a lot more low key than your usual Prom. Only the juniors from our school were allowed to attend - no underclassmen or people from other schools. So if you were like me, and decided to date an older guy from a different school, you were flying solo for the night.

But I didn’t care (that much) because my look was honestly iconic. I remember seeing Janel Parrish in a magazine wearing this dress and falling in love immediately. The color, the lace, the way the skirt fell, it was so classically glamorous. I bought it online, without trying it on, even though it was nonreturnable and two sizes too big. No problem, I could just get it altered, right? Wrong.

My boobs didn’t fit into the built-in bra, and the sleeves were extremely itchy. But I didn’t let that stop me from having a great time and looking cute! I went for a Hollywood glam vibe, with my hair curled to the side and classic glam makeup. I had my nails painted black and wore the most beautiful silver sparkly heels, which looked so great with the shorter dress. I felt like an absolute princess.

I ended up wearing this dress to my cousin’s wedding and my sorority’s formal a couple years back. It’s one of my favorite dresses ever, and it actually fits me now!

Senior Prom(s) - 2014 and 2015

2014

As soon as I tried this dress on, I fell in love. It was a true Say Yes to the Dress moment. The colors were beautiful and unique, and they faded into each other flawlessly. I felt like a mermaid! But my favorite part of this dress was the back. It was almost like a loose corset, with green ribbons zig-zagging up my back. I felt so elegant and mature. I loved it so much, I ended up wearing it twice!

The first time was to my boyfriend’s Senior Prom. I have to say that I liked the way I styled it better the first time around. I went with side curls again, but in a cute half-up-half-down-like look. And I was absolutely obsessed with my makeup. I took a ridiculous amount of selfies.

2015 (I couldn’t find any pictures by myself so let’s pretend I went to Prom with Shy Ronnie)

2015

The second time around though, I had my heart set on wearing my hair in an elegant ponytail to show off the back of my dress. When I look back at those pictures, I really wish I did the same hair as my boyfriend’s Prom. I wanted the pictures to look different, but if I could go back in time, I would dump my boyfriend and stick with the curls.

What did you wear to your Prom? Let me know in the comments!

shirt (a clunkster original!). leggings. sneakers. sunglasses.

What’s up fam? How are we doing? Hangin in there? I’ve been thanking God that the weather has been so beautiful lately. Being able to go outside for a walk or just sit on my deck and watch the world has been doing wonders for my sanity. It sucks that I can’t go out and do all the fun spring and summer-y things, but it’s looking like some parts of New York are going to be opening up on May 15th, so fingers crossed that we can get back out there at least a little!

Today, my parents and I went for a drive around Long Island, which has been our Sunday routine during quarantine. I decided to wear this comfy, springy outfit even though no one really saw me. I honestly could’ve stayed in my pajamas. But it’s nice to be a person sometimes! A crop top and leggings can do wonders for the soul.
