Over the Rainbow

Beauty, StyleKristenComment

When I was about six, my theatre camp was performing The Wizard of Oz. I wanted to be Dorothy SO bad. Obviously, I didn’t get the part, since I was six years old. I was so upset and cried all the way home that day. Instead, I got the part of Tibia, a skeleton who took the place of the flying monkeys. I eventually warmed up to it since I had my face painted like a skeleton, which I thought was the coolest thing ever (I still think so, tbh).

I got the chance to live out my Dorothy dreams that Halloween, but it just wasn’t enough for me. So a couple weeks ago I decided to play dress-up and create a modern Dorothy look.

What do you think? Do you wanna see more cosplays from me? Let me know in the comments!

Hey babes! I’m coming at you live from my living room, where I’ve been self-isolating for about a week. I’m honestly loving the downtime, but things in the world are definitely a little freaky right now. But I know we’ll all get through it, we always do!

This look is from a while back, when social distancing was the last thing on everyone’s mind. For Super Bowl Sunday, a bunch of my friends and I went to an awesome bar and drank way more than we should have considering the majority of us had work the next day. One of my friends is a hardcore Chiefs fan, so I was obviously going to be wearing red and black to support her. And apparently those good vibes paid off!

The only problem was that I barely own any red clothing. My amazing mom lent me this adorable red sweater, and I thought it would look so cute with my black denim dress. Boom, team colors!

I had a lot of fun with my makeup too. I had some time to do a wing, so I went nuts, and it actually looked cute! I very rarely wear eyeliner, let alone liquid eyeliner. Usually, when I try a wing, I look like Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove, so I’m very happy with how this turned out. To top it all off, I decked my temples out in gold glitter, because glitter is literally always a good idea.

What did you wear for the Superbowl? Let me know in the comments!

Happy Monday! It’s a brand new week, which means a week full of new opportunities! I know I keep saying it, but I’m seriously so happy it’s summer. Life is so much more fun when the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and everyone has a bit less on their plates.

A couple weeks ago, my sorority had their Spring Formal! I love Formal because everyone gets extra gorgeous and it honestly makes me cry. This year’s theme was Old Hollywood, so everyone was looking so classically beautiful.

As soon as I got word of the theme, I thought of this dress. I saw it in the Prom issue of Seventeen a couple years back and fell in love. I bought it immediately, even though the only one left was two sizes too big and unable to be altered or returned! I ended up wearing it to my Junior Prom, even though it was a little big, and wore it again for my cousin’s wedding a couple years ago. Now that I’ve gained some weight and height, the dress fits me perfectly! I’m so happy I got to wear it again. I genuinely feel like a princess in this dress.

My shoes are also another blast from the past! I wore these to two Proms with a different dress. I loved them as soon as I saw them because they’re beautiful, classy, and dressy, but they’re not heels! I have knee problems, and heels really irritate them, so I try to go for classier flats. These are super comfy, and I don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.

I kept my hair simple, just straightening it (it looked better before Formal, I took this pic after I got home!), and my makeup relatively simple, but glamorous. I contoured a lot more than usual, took extra time on my sparkly eye shadow, and bought a new lip crayon that I’ll post about soon! Spoiler alert: I’m obsessed.

Overall, the night was amazing! I had such a great time from beginning to end. This was the first year I was able to bring my boyfriend instead of just a date! He’s amazing and made the night twenty times better. Have you been to any ~fancy~ events recently? Let me know in the comments!

Pants???

Outfit of the DayKristenComment

Shirt/Dress (from Boston Harley Davidson). Tights. Boots (no longer being sold at Primark). Sunglasses. Lipstick (in Sanctuary).

Okay, so I've been seriously digging the long-shirt-no-pants look that artists like Ariana Grande and Halsey have been slaying. After my uncle passed away, I took a bunch of his really cool shirts with the intentions of either cutting them into crop tops and tank tops, but also to leave some as dresses. Here's one that survived!

This shirt is one of the most comfortable things I've ever put on my body. I actually bought this for him at the Boston Harley Davidson a couple years ago. I made a good choice! This shirt is perfect to wear as a dress because it comes down to a length that's pretty cheeky, but still looks like I'm wearing a dress instead of a shirt with no pants. And I love how long the sleeves are!

Obviously, this summer has got me super down. I haven't wanted to get dressed or do my makeup or do anything. But today I put on my tights, Clunkster boots, and dark lipstick, and I really felt like myself again.

Throwback Thursday

Dress (no clue I'm sorry). Sweater. Sneakers. Sunglasses (similar).

Wow, so this is a mega Throwback Thursday. This was my First Day of School outfit from the beginning of the year! Growing up, I wore a uniform to school, so I never really went back to school clothes shopping or anything, but my mom always took a picture of me with my backpack on before I left.

I actually wore this dress for my first day of college classes ever, so I thought it would be cute if I wore it again. This dress was another cousin-hand-me-down, so I have no clue where it’s from, but isn’t it cute? It’s the perfect balance of cute and formal. I’ve worn it to so many ~events~, but I also wear it on regular, casual days.

Most of the time, like in this look, I wear this dress with my black Converse to keep it cute and casual. If I need to be a little more dressed up, I wear my clear flip-flops with silver studs.

When I got chilly, I put on my grey cardigan thing that perfectly matched the top of my dress. My makeup was normal, and my hair was straight, since I was super pumped for the first day of classes. My jewelry was normal as well!
